      Hello Zap,

We are using the ZAPTEST Community Edition, and we’ve noticed some of the recorded items, when we run the test after its recording, such as buttons, for example, do not click:
We think ZAPTEST ignores these items for unknown reason.

Please advise us how to create a workable test.

      Thanks.

        Hello BarbJack,

        Thank-you for your question.

Basically the items you are referring to their professional name is Objects, and there are cases where Zapfree (AKA ZAPTEST Community Edition) will have some difficulties recognize (identifying the recorded object) in the AUT (Application Under Test) – It may look like Zapfree ignores the object but actually it cannot find it, the difficulties to locate and recognize the object may be because of the following:
        – This is a dynamic object which tends to change its properties due to different AUT needs (Such as zooming, language changes, etc)
        – There is more than 1 object with similar properties on the same page (Such as objects with similar captions).
        – The object was not recorded properly.
        – Each platform where the AUT is being executed tends to change the object to its capabilities (Such as different resolution).

There are several options to cause Zapfree to recognize an object:
        1. You can try to record the object again, maybe the previous recording was not successful.
        2. If there is a possibility this is a dynamic object you can record it in different situations, still in the same test, then move its captured steps to the object’s behavior scenario.
        3. You can open the Workbench and update the object’s properties, such as: its color, text, image, add to it more related objects which will behave as anchors to recognize the object better, etc.
        4. In case there is a problem with the object’s exact appearance timing, you can add more Wait time in the Step view between the already added steps
        5. If the recognition issues continue it is best to purchase the full ZAPTEST version which have also scripting capabilities that allow more flexibility, more recognition options, and basically it creates a more robust test,

Please contact Zap for further help.

        Thanks,
        Sasha
