API

ZAPTEST is proud to introduce a NEW API testing functionality

The API module allows for testing of a wide type of API Services: REST and SOAP using XML and JSON data formats; it also provides seamless integration with UI testing

GET INFORMATION ABOUT OTHER FEATURES

SOAP and REST

The API Module supports two kinds of servers based on the following messaging protocols:

  • SOAP - Simple Object Access Protocol
  • REST - Representational State Transfer
  • WSDL and WADL (predefined method structures) are supported as well

ZAPTEST Methodology has one model of communication with different protocols: no need to use different technics, just define an object and write a test code

JSON and XML

ZAPTEST API Module supports two data formats:

  • XML - Extensible Markup Language
  • JSON - JavaScript Object Notation

With a given "Data Format" object property the API Module automatically generates the correct body data, adds the right headers and is able to detect the response format

EASY BODY OBJECTS

The API Module has a technology that is used to create complex objects using simple paths and values

  • Every part (path string or member value) can be parameterized using the Datatable
  • This technology significantly decreases time on average object creation and adds huge flexibility

CHECK LIST

ZAPTEST API Module has a "Check List" feature to make special checkpoints to validate for complex response data

  • Sometimes it's hard to check all responses due to timestamps or automatic messages
  • Using special "paths" ZAPTEST is able to validate only part or parts of the response
  • Both "paths" and "checkpoint data" could be parameterized using the Datatable

ADVANTAGES

  • The API Module provides the ability to test Web Services: REST and SOAP using XML and JSON data formats
  • Allows mixing of UI and API testing
  • Allows using special "paths" for creating and validating objects
